BFUMC Preschool

Two Year Olds Daily Schedule

We thought that you would like a peek into your toddler’s busy day at preschool. As you read our schedule, please remember that we do change diapers throughout the day as needed.

8:30-9:00: Center Time

2 year olds will have two activities sat out on table to choose from along with center time play (play doh, markers, painting, etc.) Children love this time of morning to explore the room independently. Music is played very low. Teachers are helping children become independent at cleaning up one station before going to another, and checking bags for tuition or parent’s notes.

9:00-9:25: Circle Time

Children sit in a circle and go over colors, shapes, dress weather bear, go over days of the week, months of the year, and also have a quick intro to the day’s lesson and activities. We finish circle time with at least 2 up beat dancing songs to get the wiggles out.

9:30-9:45: Letter Time

Children are sitting down at the table to do a work sheet focused on the letter of the week. Markers one day, paint the next, maybe gluing pieces of paper on the letter the next. Children should never have the same type of letter sheet more than one time a week.

9:45-10:00: Music and Movement

One teacher sings and dances with the children while other gets snack on the table.

10:00-10:15: Snack Time

10:15-10:30: Bible Story Time

One teacher reads aloud the Bible Story from the curriculum on the carpet while the other cleans up snack and gets art projects ready on the table.

10:30-10:45: Lesson Time

Children stay on carpet while teacher teaches the lesson from the curriculum whether it be about Farms with a story book, or the teacher using a puppet friend to talk about the week’s focus. This is extremely important and is done each school day. This is also a good time to go over the week’s letter again and the sound it makes.

10:50-11:15: Art Time

Both teachers are helping children with an art project directly related to the lesson or the month’s focus. Children are instructed on using proper amount of glue, using scissors correctly, etc. Children’s art should vary from paintings, construction paper work, or other art materials. We strive to send home an art project with the child at least 2 times a week.

11:15-11:40: Free Play-Diaper Change

One teacher is watching children while other packs bags, changes all diapers wet or dry, and cleans room. This alternates between teachers.

11:45-12:00: Recall Time

We bring children in and sit on carpet. One teacher briefly recalls the day’s lesson, letter, Bible focus, art project, and wipes faces while the other teacher bags up trash and loads Children.
