Early Toddlers Daily Schedule

  EARLY TODDLER DAILY SCHEDULE:

8:30-9:00:  Welcome Children

Children are welcomed into the classroom with soft music and are able to independantly choose an activity.  The small tables are set up with puzzles, leggos, playdough, or water color painting to offer many options.  This is a very important beginning to our day.  It allows an easy transition from home to school.  Parents are welcome to come in at this time.  Teachers are able to communicate with family members at this time to discuss any issues at hand.  This is also our first potty break!

9:00-9:15:  Potty Break

Children take turns using the potty chair while the others tidy up the classroom.

9:15-9:45:  Circle Time

Children gather for the daily lesson.  Most of our lessons have a short finger play or song.  This helps young ones retain information.  We enjoy dressing our weather bear for the day's weather.  We have a time to go and look outside and discuss the weather.  Children enjoy taking turns putting on one of his many outfits!  Circle time is also when we go over the alphabet.  By the end of the school year, our children will know the letters of the alphabet by sight and sound.  We do begin sign language introduction at this young age.  Classmates count to 20, recite the days of the week, and months of the year.  We also say the pledge to the American Flag.  So much fun is squeezed into this time.

9:45-10:00:  Letter Time

This time is used to go over our letter.  Children will have a worksheet every school day that focuses on our letter.  The different activities include rubbing sand paper letters, painting our letter, or gluing things onto our letter.  The sound of the letter is repeated  as the children work.

10:00-10:15:  Potty Break

10:15-10:30:  Art Time

Every day our students  have at least one art project.  Our curriculum is great at focusing on the arts.  We feel that art projects is a wonderful way to develop both fine motor skills and a healthy imagination!  Please feel free to come in and view our ever changing bulliten boards filled with our hard work.  When your child brings  home a project, be sure to display it in a place that everyone can see it and offer plenty of praise!

10:30-10:45:  Bible Story Time

Bible story time is one of the most important times of our day.  Teachers make sure the classroom has a quiet and clam atmosphere.  Childern enjoy singing church songs and hearing a story from the bible.  This time is also used to teach them how to talk to God in prayer.  Once a week we meet in the chapel with Pastor Wayne to hear a bible story from him!  He is always exciting and full of energy.  The children are asked to bring in a canned food item as their offering.  We collect the food and donate it to the Haralson County Mininstries.  What a great way to learn about helping others.

10:45-11:00:  Music and Movement

Music time is a great way to work off excess energy with the children.  We enjoy having a marching band with our musical instruments, or singing our favorite songs with our friends.  Our songs have specific moves to them.  This teaches memorization skills as well as developing large motor skills!

11:00-11:15:  Snack Time/ Potty Break

The early toddler classroom has a different approach to snack time.  Our little ones each have a sippy cup that stays at school.  We go through about 3 glasses of juice or water during our day.  Our children are offered snacks such as gold fish, mini marshmellows, or dry cereal throughout our day.  Parents help us out by donating boxes of snacks and containers of juice.  Thanks to all who help!

11:15-11:30:  Free Play Outside (weather permitting)

Outside time is enjoyed by all.  If weather doesn't permit us to use the playground, our teachers have many tricks up their sleves to keep them entertained.  We have riding toys that we ride up and down the educational hallway, we also have multi colored balls that we roll down the ramps.  Children enjoy learning games during this time such as duck duck goose and musical chairs!

11:30-11:50:  Clean up/ Recall Time

This is the part of our day when the children help in cleaning up the classroom and gathering all personal items that need to go home.  When we are all packed and ready, we sit down and discuss everything that we have learned.  We also tell the children what we will be doing the next time they come to school.  This gives them something to discuss with parents and look foward to returning to perschool!

11:50-12:00:  Dismissal

Parents drive in the pick up line and teachers load the children.  No parents are permitted to enter the building at this time.  We need all staff members to have their full attention on the children.  Saftey is our main concern.
